Primary Domain Controller External Time Synchronisation

Primary Domain Controller External Time Synchronisation

     1. net stop w32time

     2. w32tm /configure /syncfromflags:manual /manualpeerlist:”0.us.pool.ntp.org,0x1 1.us.pool.ntp.org,0x1 2.us.pool.ntp.org,0x1 3.us.pool.ntp.org,0x1″

INFORMATION . The default external time source for Windows Server is time.windows.com. A better option is to sync from multiple time servers. In the command above,     we’re using time servers maintained by the NTP Pool Project.

     3. net start w32time

     4. w32tm /configure /reliable:yes /update

     5. w32tm /resync

If there is more than one Domain Controller in Active Directory, run the following command on each:

     6. w32tm /config /syncfromflags:domhier /update

Verify correct time settings from PDC Emulator by running

w32tm /query /status

w32tm /query /source

If the Domain Controller is running on a VPS ensure the intergration services “Time Syncronization” is unticked.
